MetMalaysia issues continuous rain alert


KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay­sian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued an alert-level continuous rain warning for several states in Peninsular Malaysia, as well as parts of Sabah and Sarawak.

MetMalaysia director-general Dr Mohd Hisham Mohd Anip said continuous rain is expected in Sabah, specifically Sandakan ­(cov­ering Telupid, Kinabatangan and Beluran) and Kudat from Dec 5 to 6.

He said a similar warning has been issued for Dec 6 to 7 for Kelantan (Tumpat, Pasir Mas, Kota Baru, Bachok and Pasir Puteh), Terengganu and parts of Pahang (Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin).

“From Dec 7 to 8, continuous rain is forecast in several districts in Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mer­sing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Baru), as well as in Sarawak, covering Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei (Pakan, Sarikei and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah and Bin­tulu,” he said in a statement, Bernama reported.
