Underground water flow caused Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing landslide, says police

GUA MUSANG: The landslide at Jalan Gua Musang-Lojing FT185, Section 107.6 at Pos Blau here early Wednesday (Dec 3) is believed to have been caused by underground water flow, said district police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo.

He said there was still soil movement in the area, posing a risk of further landslides.

"The collapsed portion of the road spans roughly 120m and is 30 to 35m deep.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that underground water movement is likely the cause of the collapse. Two days ago, small cracks had already appeared along this stretch, and the Fire and Rescue Department and the Public Works Department have been monitoring the site," he told reporters at the scene.

Earlier, the Gua Musang Public Works Department said that the road section was closed to all traffic from Wednesday until further notice to facilitate safety and recovery operations. – Bernama
