KUALA LUMPUR: Six individuals arrested to assist in investigations into the kidnapping of two foreign nationals in Alor Setar, Kedah, have been remanded for seven days from Saturday (Aug 8).
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk M. Kumar said they comprised a local man, four foreign men and a foreign woman, aged between their 20s and 40s, who were arrested in Kedah, Penang and Kuala Lumpur.
“All of them have been remanded until Aug 14 to facilitate investigations under Section 3(1) of the Kidnapping Act 1961 for abduction for ransom,” he said when contacted.
On Friday (Aug 7), two men believed to be foreign nationals were killed in a shootout with police during an operation to rescue two kidnapping victims at a house in Taman Amira, Telaga Bata, Alor Setar, at about 8.40pm.
