United for the Rights of Malaysians Party (Urimai) will continue to seek registration through legal action, Makkal Osai reported.

Party chairman Dr P. Ramasamy described the rejection of its registration, during the party’s second annual gathering, as a punishment.

The party needs to complete the registration in order to take part in elections.

Meanwhile, Urimai deputy chairman David Marshel, who also spoke at the meeting, said Mitra should be defunded as it had failed to serve the Indian community.

The community has not benefited well from Mitra’s funds or activities.

The people who truly need help are not getting assistance, but the funds are going to some organisations and companies, he claimed.

From the days of Sedic to Mitra, the failures to achieve their goals despite apparent allocations of hundreds of millions of ringgit need to be answered, said Marshel.

> The daily also reported that a married man and his mistress have both been sentenced to death for the murder of his other mistress, who was pregnant with his child.

Prabeesh, 37, a labourer from Kerala, had been having an affair with Anitha, 32, when she got pregnant.

Anitha insisted that Prabeesh separate from his wife and marry her.

Not wanting this, Prabeesh sought the help of his other girlfriend, Rajani, 38, and the duo decided to kill Anitha.

Rajani helped restrain Anitha as Prabeesh strangled her to death with a rope.

Prabeesh was sentenced to death by the Alappuzha Sessions Court last month, while Rajani was handed the same sentence on Friday.
