Ahmad Zahid to meet Terengganu MB over vacate order to Felda

KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says he will discuss Terengganu’s order for the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) to vacate plantations in the state with Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar.

The Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, said he will call Ahmad Samsuri soon to address the matter, which affects some 15,000 hectares.

“We can discuss the matter. I was given the responsibility to address and resolve the matter faced by Felda, even though the agency is placed under the Prime Minister’s Department.

“I will hold discussions with the Honourable Mentri Besar of Terengganu on that matter. There is no matter that cannot be resolved.

“What is important is the interests of the settlers who are also the people of Tengganu and also the people of the nation,” he said when met with reporters after launching the Cyberjaya Conversations Summit 2025 here on Wednesday (Dec 3).

Felda and its commercial arm FGV Holdings Bhd, in a joint statement on Tuesday, said they had been issued an order by Terengganu state to vacate palm oil plantation land there, warning it could impact operations and national output.

FGV, one of the world’s largest palm oil producers, said a notice had been issued to vacate and demolish building structures and destroy crops in Terengganu within three days, describing that as an extremely tight timeline.

On Nov 30, the media reported that a trespass notice had been issued to FGV and Felda to remove assets from 10 plantations covering 15,000 hectares in the state and that the notice stemmed from a protracted disagreement about profit-sharing.
