Ahmad Zahid congratulates Onn Hafiz on appointment as Johor MB

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi extended his congratulations to Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi on his appointment as the Johor Menteri Besar on Sunday (July 12).

Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Barisan Nasional chairman, described the trust given by the people to Onn Hafiz as a great mandate to continue leading Johor more excellently, prioritising the welfare of the people, political stability and sustainable development.

"I am confident... with the leadership, experience and commitment possessed, Johor will continue to achieve more success for the benefit of the entire Bangsa Johor.

"May Allah SWT grant strength, wisdom, and guidance to Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi in carrying out this trust and continue to lead Johor Darul Ta’zim towards greater glory. Congratulations and best of luck in fulfilling your duties," he said on his Facebook page.

Earlier, Onn Hafiz, who is also the Johor state assemblyman for Machap and Johor Barisan chairman, took the oath of office as the Johor MB before the Regent of Johor, Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim.

Onn Hafiz received his appointment letter and took the oath of office during a ceremony at the Balai Mengadap, Istana Bukit Serene in Johor Baru.

On Saturday (July 11), Barisan obtained a mandate in the 16th Johor state election after recording a two-thirds majority victory by winning 48 out of 56 state assembly seats. — Bernama
