Sabah DAP will not take any govt posts after state election setback, says Loke

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP will not take up any positions in the Sabah Unity Government.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said the party’s Central Executive Committee (CEC) held an emergency meeting on Monday (Dec 1) night to discuss the outcome of the Sabah state election.

According to Sinar Harian, he said DAP had received a clear and unmistakable signal from voters.

"There is no denying that this election reflects a serious crisis of confidence in DAP and Pakatan Harapan.

"Leaders and members involved in the campaign were acutely aware of the widespread dissatisfaction among the people throughout the campaign period.

"Following internal discussions and assessments, we will gather all the feedback received and work together with the Prime Minister to accelerate the reform agenda over the next six months," he said in a media statement on Tuesday (Dec 2).

He added that during the meeting, DAP Sabah also presented its decision to the CEC that they would not take up any positions in the Sabah government.

"This includes appointed Sabah State Assembly member positions. DAP Sabah leaders will continue to serve the people of Sabah actively and work to regain public confidence," he said.
