KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Anti Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied claims it confiscated businessman Albert Tei’s belongings without his knowledge.
The commission said a seizure list was handed to Tei on the day of his arrest and added that he personally signed the document.
MACC said several items, including mobile phones, an iPad and a digital video recorder, were seized as evidence.
The Strategic Communications Division said the items were voluntarily handed over by Tei.

It said a copy of the movable property seizure list under Section 33 of the MACC Act 2009 was provided last Friday (Nov 28).
“We strongly deny the allegation that our officers seized Tei’s belongings without following proper procedures,” it said.
“The commission carries out its duties in accordance with the law and within its authorised powers,” said the MACC.
This comes after Tei’s wife Lee Pei Ree said the MACC illegally confiscated his possessions.
They demanded a complete inventory within three days by Wednesday (Dec 3).
