Anwar expected to be discharged from hospital today, says Wan Azizah

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to be discharged from hospital on Wednesday (Aug 12) after receiving treatment, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said.

She said Anwar expressed his appreciation to everyone who had prayed for his health and well-being.

"PMX sends his regards and thanked everyone who has prayed for his health and recovery,” she said.

She spoke to reporters after attending the Semarak Merdeka programme in conjunction with the 2026 National Month celebrations at the Bandar Tun Razak branch of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) here.

Anwar had successfully undergone an elective laparoscopic surgical procedure to treat a para-umbilical hernia on Monday. - Bernama
