SEREMBAN: A 42-year-old Bangladeshi was charged in the Magistrate's Court here with the murders of his three compatriots.
No plea was recorded from Md Idris Ali after the charges were read to him before Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli on Wednesday (Aug 12).
He was charged with murdering 44-year-old Md Nozrul Islam along the back lane of a house in Taman Linggi near here between 4pm and 4.15pm on Aug 3.
He was also charged with the murders of Mohasin, who was in his 40s and Kiron Miah, 52, at an oil palm plantation in Sua Manggis in Linggi.
He was charged with committing the offences between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on the same day.
Md Idris was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Offenders can either be sent to the gallows or jailed between 30 and 40 years and whipped a minimum 12 times upon conviction.
Magistrate Nurul Saqinah then told the accused that although he claimed to understand the charges, the court was of the opinion that he still needed the services of an interpreter.
She then fixed Thursday (Aug 13) for the next mention.
The accused was not offered bail.
Earlier, Md Idris was charged at the Sessions Court for causing injury to another Bangladeshi, Md Kajal Mondol, 20.
He was charged with committing the offence behind the same house between 4pm and 4.15pm on Aug 3.
The accused was charged under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
However, after the charge was read, the accused told Judge Tasnim Abu Bakar that he did not understand it.
Judge Tasnim then fixed Thursday (Aug 13) for the next mention to allow an interpreter to be present.
