Married couple charged with trafficking 480g of ecstasy in Ipoh

IPOH: A married couple was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here for trafficking 480.60g of ecstasy (MDMA) last week.

Teoh Wai Loon, 44, and Lim Suk Pei, 38, nodded after the charge under Section 39B(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code, was read before Magistrate S Punitha on Wednesday  (Aug 12).

No plea was recorded as the offence falls under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Zulqarnain Wan Asmira prosecuted, while both accused were unrepresented.

According to the charge sheet, the couple, acting together, committed the crime at about 10.30pm on Aug 4 in a room at a nightclub in Medan Bercham Bistari.

The court then set Dec 7 for case mention and submission of the chemical report.
