KUALA LUMPUR: Several companies have been targeted in a scam involving fake government Letters of Acceptance (SST) carrying the forged signature of the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general.
The agency issued a statement on Wednesday (Aug 12) confirming it lodged a police report after discovering fraudulent documents designed to trick businesses into believing that they had secured official government supply contracts.
The fake offers involved contracts to supply items such as tactical protective jackets, generator sets, and stationery, all produced on counterfeit agency letterheads using the names and positions of agency officers.
"Following this, a police report was lodged over the misuse of the name of the agency’s director-general and its officers," the agency said, adding that the case has been handed over to law enforcement for investigation.
The agency emphasised that all procurement activities strictly follow established government regulations. The agency urged contractors to verify the authenticity of any offer letter or SST before making financial commitments, warning that it views document forgery and impersonation of its personnel seriously.
