KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Dec 1) passed the Supply Bill (Budget) 2026 by a majority voice vote, officially endorsing the government’s spending plans for the coming year.

Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul announced the bill’s approval following its third reading by Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan.

The bill had undergone 27 days of debate and committee-stage winding-up sessions, which began on Oct 13 for each ministry.

At the policy level, the Dewan Rakyat had earlier passed the Supply Bill 2025 on Nov 4, following 15 days of committee-level starting Nov 5.

Presented by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 10, the 2026 Budget is the fourth under the Madani government and the first to be implemented under the framework of the 13th Malaysia Plan (MP13).

Themed “Belanjawan Rakyat” (People’s Budget), it allocates total public expenditure of RM470 bil, including RM338.2 bil for operating expenses and RM81bil for development spending.

The Budget also includes RM30bil in government-linked company investments, RM10bil for public-private partnerships, and RM10.8bil for federal statutory bodies and Minister of Finance Incorporated companies.
