UP to 300 teachers have been appointed to Tamil schools nationwide to address staffing shortages.

Klang MP V. Ganapathirau had raised the matter in Parliament, asking what measures were being taken to resolve the shortfall, Makkal Osai reported.

In its response, the Education Ministry said the new appointments have filled 99.8% of vacancies in Tamil schools.

The ministry also plans to train and hire 1,417 Tamil school teachers by 2030, including 1,273 with at least a bachelor’s degree and 144 with master’s degrees.

The latest batch of 300 teachers reported for duty on Nov 17.
