IPOH: A TikTok user has issued a public apology over a livestream where he allegedly mocked an Orang Asli village chief and hiker Jaslinda Saludin.
In a video uploaded on Tuesday (June 9), the individual admitted that the livestream had led to prejudice involving the Orang Asli community and others connected to the incident.
“I humbly apologise if my remarks have hurt the feelings of any community or individual, whether directly or indirectly.
“What happened was not what I intended, nor was it meant to be portrayed in a defamatory way. It was banter and light-hearted teasing between me and my audience during the livestream,” he said.
He also hopes that his public apology will be accepted and that the matter can be resolved amicably.
Earlier, the media reported that about 50 Orang Asli village chiefs and community representatives from Batang Padang, Muallim and Kinta had lodged police reports to protest allegations and defamatory claims circulating on social media against Lubuk Gaharu Orang Asli village chief, Mohd Asmmadi Abdullah.

The allegations were linked to the recent discovery of female hiker Jaslinda Saludin in the Gunung Batu Putih area.
Lata Kinjang Orang Asli village chief Rani Bah Ulin said the reports were lodged following videos by a social media user who allegedly claimed that Mohd Asmmadi had hid or sheltered Jaslinda, who was found by Orang Asli villagers near Kampung Orang Asli Lubuk Gaharu after she went missing for two weeks.
Meanwhile, Sinar Harian reported that Jaslinda’s husband, Haszman Othman, 61, said the family was prepared to take legal action against several social media users who had gone too far and defamed his wife following her disappearance.
