SANDAKAN: Eligible companies have been urged to register under the Subsidised Diesel Control System to benefit from subsidised fuel for their diesel-powered vehicles.
Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said the call was particularly relevant to micro and small businesses, including small contractors using 4WD vehicles and pickup trucks in their daily operations.
"Do not miss this opportunity. For every eligible vehicle under this new sector, the company will receive a subsidy quota of 300 litres," Armizan said here on Sunday (July 26).
He was speaking after presenting fleet cards to 15 companies during the Jom Malaysia Festival at the Sandakan Sports Complex.
Armizan said an individual who qualified for a 300-litre allocation under the personal diesel subsidy scheme could also receive an additional 300-litre quota for an eligible vehicle registered under an enterprise.
Applications for the new private company land transport category opened on July 3 and cover diesel-powered 4WD vehicles and pickup trucks owned by registered sole proprietorships, enterprises and partnerships.
For this category, vehicles must be registered under the AE usage code.
As of July 23, a total of 15,388 companies involving 25,781 vehicles had registered under the category nationwide.
Sabah recorded 5,583 companies involving 10,046 vehicles, while Sarawak had 4,713 companies with 8,292 vehicles and Labuan recorded 157 companies with 200 vehicles.
Collectively, Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan accounted for 67.9% of the companies benefiting from the new category.
Armizan said the expansion was intended to help reduce operating costs for businesses, particularly micro and small enterprises.
The wider subsidised diesel programme also covers eligible vehicles transporting essential consumer goods, including food-catering lorries and vans, agricultural produce lorries, refrigerated trucks, water and beverage tankers, livestock carriers, rubbish trucks and certain pickup trucks.
Eligible companies must obtain approval under the system before applying for a fleet card from participating oil companies to purchase subsidised diesel according to the monthly quota set for each vehicle type.
Armizan urged businesses that had yet to register to apply through the MySubsidi portal or seek assistance at Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry branch offices.
