Sabah declares Saturday a public holiday


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah has declared polling day as a public holiday, says state secretary Datuk Seri Safar Untong.

He said a gazette for the holiday has been issued.

According to the gazette, Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman has set tomorrow, which is polling day, as a public holiday.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), rain is expected in several locations during the morning.

Thunderstorms are forecast in most inland areas in the afternoon, while rain is expected in several locations at night.

The maximum temperature throughout the day is expected to be 31°C, with a minimum of 21°C.

A total of 1.76 million voters will cast their ballots in the 17th Sabah Election for 73 seats in the state assembly.

There will be 882 polling centres with 3,558 polling streams for the election.
