Cops: Drop in offence reports shows maturity

KOTA KINABALU: Police received half the number of reports on election offences compared to the state polls in 2020, reflecting political maturity among the people, says Datuk Jauteh Dikun.

The Sabah Police Commissioner said this round, they received a total of 110 reports, which is a 50% drop.

“This also shows discipline and professionalism within the community in facing this state election,” he said at a press conference.

Comm Jauteh said this also proves good cooperation between police and community as well as better awareness among the people.

On Saturday’s election, he said over 8,000 police personnel and officers have been deployed to ensure the safety and smooth election process.

He reminded the police force to maintain professionalism and integrity, and to remain neutral throughout their duties.

Comm Jauteh also urged the public to approach any police personnel or go to the nearest police stations if they face any form of provocation during the polling process.

He also warned the public against provoking anyone or any parties.

He advised voters to plan their journey as traffic is expected to be heavier than usual.

“Please abide by road regulations, drive carefully and considerately for the safety of all,” Comm Jauteh said.

“Let us keep this positive momentum that we have seen until after the Nov 29 election,” he added.
