PETALING JAYA: A total of 34,289 victims are currently sheltered at the 32 active temporary relief centres (PPS) in seven states, says the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma).
Overall, there had been an increase in the number of victims, as of noon on Thursday (Nov 27), compared to yesterday’s 33,756.
Kelantan, where nine districts were affected by the floods, had the highest number of victims with 10,907 sheltered at 66 PPS.
This was followed by Perlis, with 7270 victims at 24 PPS, Perak with 5,313 victims at 44 PPS, Kedah with 4,270 victims at 22 PPS, Terengganu with 4,013 victims at 48 PPS, 2,497 victims in Selangor’s 15 PPS and 19 in Pahang’s only active PPS.
Perlis, Kedah, Terengganu and Selangor have seen an increase in victims while the numbers have gone down in Kelantan and Kedah. In Pahang, the number of victims remained unchanged from yesterday.
The death toll remains at two.
Continuous downpour is expected in Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus and Kuala Terengganu, in Terengganu until Friday (Nov 28). The weather conditions in those districts have reached dangerous levels.
Heavy rain is expected to occur in Kulim and Bandar Baharu in Kedah; Penang, Perak; Terengganu; Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub and Bentong); Selangor; Kuala Lumpur; and Putrajaya until Saturday Nov 29.
Heavy rain is also expected in Kelantan and Terengganu (Hulu Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman) until Friday (Nov 28).
The water levels at all dams were at normal levels.
