KL cops nab three following noon car chase

KUALA LUMPUR: A police chase ensued after a group of suspects crashed into a policeman during an inspection.

Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sazalee Adam, at the scene of the incident near Bank Negara, said that the incident occurred around noon Tuesday (Nov 25) after a crime prevention team stopped a car for inspection.

"During the inspection the car then crashed into a policeman before speeding off towards Jalan Kuching and into the Bank Negara area. During the chase, the suspect also collided with several other vehicles.

"The police then cornered them behind Bank Negara where one of the three in the car then attempted to flee by jumping down the hill," he said.

All three suspects were then caught, including the driver who had attempted to flee. He suffered injuries during his fall.

Another had attempted to hide in the shrubbery behind the bank but was also located.

"The suspects are Indonesian. We are investigating the status of the ownership of the car as it belonged to another person.

"So far we have not detected any elements of car theft," he said.

He added that the policeman injured by the suspects is currently being treated at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital.

"He did not suffer serious injuries.

"We have yet to identify the motive behind their attempt to flee the inspection," he said, adding that investigations are still ongoing.
