IPOH: The number of victims affected by floods in Perak continues to increase, now with 3,121 people relocated to temporary relief centres.
A state disaster management committee spokesman said 991 families are now seeking shelter at 37 locations in eight districts as of 4pm on Tuesday (Nov 25).
It was reported on Monday (Nov 24) night that there were 1,786 evacuees from 554 families in the state.
These include Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS), Kuala Kangsar, Manjung, Batang Padang, Hilir Perak, Perak Tengah, Bagan Datuk and Muallim.
Manjung is the worst hit district with 1,401 victims, followed by Perak Tengah (784), Bagan Datuk (392), Hilir Perak (281), Muallim 167), LMS (79), Kuala Kangsar (14) and Batang Padang (three).
According to the state Irrigation and Drainage Department, the water levels at Sungai Bidor in Hilir Perak and Sungai Slim in Muallim have reached the danger mark, while the water at Sungai Kinta in Kampar is at a cautionary level.
The weather forecast by the Meteorological Department of Malaysia also reports that rainfall will continue into the night throughout the state.
According to the Public Works Department, several roads have been cut off.
Jalan Padang Gajah-Beruas in Trong and Jalan Slim-Kuala Slim in Slim River have been inundated, while part of Jalan Felda Trolak Timur in Slim River has collapsed because of a landslide.
