KOTA KINABALU: An Election Campaign Enforcement Team has been set up following the dissolution of the Sabah assembly for the 17th state polls on Nov 29.
Election Commission secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus said the team will ensure all campaign activities comply with the Election Offences Act 1954.

He said the team is responsible for monitoring campaign activities by all candidates throughout the campaign period until polling day, adding this applies regardless of political affiliation.
Khairul said the team will also advise and remind candidates and parties to abide by all laws in force, adding the enforcement team does not single out any party or individual.
He dismissed such allegations as false, and said that the EC urges anyone with concerns about misconduct or violations to file an official complaint.
Khairul said reports can be made to the Commission or the relevant authorities.
“The EC reminds all parties to strictly adhere to the law for a smooth, peaceful and effective election process,” he said on Sunday (Nov 23).
