PKR to decide on Selangor MB post, says Fahmi

KUALA LUMPUR: The question of the Selangor Mentri Besar post is for the party to decide, says PKR information chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil.

He said the party did not discuss the recent suggestion involving Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

“If you look closely at what he said, the Selangor MB intends to complete his term in office.

“He also said there was no issue of him immediately serving at the federal level. He wants to complete his term as MB,” Fahmi told reporters after closing an online scam awareness seminar organised by IPPTAR on Sunday (Nov 23).

Fahmi said the future of the Selangor MB post will be decided by the party.

He was asked about Amirudin’s suggestion that PKR deputy president Nurul Izzah Anwar replace him as MB.

The issue arose in a recent Keluar Sekejap podcast with Khairy Jamaluddin.

Amirudin said he strongly agreed when asked if the Prime Minister’s daughter should be given the opportunity to lead the state government.

The Gombak MP also stated his willingness to serve at the federal level.

Previously, he dismissed claims that he would step down for Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz.

On Friday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said such suggestions are personal opinions.

He said he had no knowledge of, and had not discussed, the proposal reportedly expressed by Amirudin.
