UMK undergrads brave knee-deep waters as parts of Pengkalan Chepa campus inundated

PETALING JAYA: Several Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) students were forced to wade through knee-deep floodwaters on Saturday (Nov 22) evening after an hours-long downpour inundated parts of the Pengkalan Chepa campus in Kelantan.

In a live TikTok video, user Mohd Hilman Malik said some of the shops are still open in the surrounding area.

"So far, the water is knee-deep. We are trying to help some students out of the area," he said in his post Saturday.

He said the nearby pharmacy was still open and some students had rushed to buy some supplies in case of unexpected situations.

"But in the lower areas, the shops are closed," he said.

The live video also showed students trudging through murky water, clutching their bags, and walking with umbrellas.

Social media users have urged Mohd Hilman to stay safe.

"Don't go swimming," said one of the social media user

Two major rivers in Kelantan have risen above the alert level as of 12.45pm Saturday, according to the Drainage and Irrigation Department (JPS).
