Rail-based solution urgently needed for Johor traffic woes, says exco member

ISKANDAR PUTERI: Johor is pressing Putrajaya for a long-term traffic dispersal system for the city centre - whether via an elevated Automated Rapid Transit (elevated ART) network or a Light Rail Transit (LRT) system - as congestion worsens.

State works, transportation, infrastructure and communications committee chairman Mohamad Fazli Mohamad Salleh said federal approvals should be expedited so that at least part of the new rail-based system can be completed before the Johor-Singapore Rapid Transit System Link (RTS) begins in January 2027.
