Viral video of electrocution is from 2022, say authorities

KOTA KINABALU: A video of a flag installer who was electrocuted is actually from 2022, say the authorities.

Police and firemen confirmed the incident happened in 2022 and urged the public to stop sharing the video.

A son of the victim who saw the clip on social media also called for people to stop reposting it.

“Why are you reposting this old video? This was in 2022 and the victim was my late father. Please take the video down,” he said.

In the clip, a man is heard filming an unconscious victim and saying the political flag poles had touched an electric pole.

Smoke is still seen coming from the pole on the ground.
