Malaysia introduces emergency manual for citizens in Indonesia

JAKARTA: The Malaysian embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday (Nov 19) launched the Disaster and Emergency Management Guidelines book as a guide and reference to help Malaysians in Indonesia enhance their preparedness and emergency management capabilities.

The book, published by Education Malaysia Indonesia (EMI), a unit under the Higher Education Ministry, is intended as a reference for citizens, students, and government officials who may face emergencies.

Malaysian ambassador to Indonesia Datuk Syed Mohamad Hasrin Tengku Hussin along with the Deputy Chief of Mission, Farzamie Sarkawi, and the EMI director, Dr Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri, officiated at the launching ceremony.

Hasnul Faizal said the book contains step-by-step guidelines for the pre-disaster phase, as well as actions to take before, during, and after an incident. It also details specific procedures for infectious diseases and other critical emergencies.

"The book compiles a complete guide covering the pre-disaster phase, before, during, and after an incident, including specific procedures for infectious diseases and other critical emergencies.

"We hope this publication will support the government's efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of Malaysians abroad through clear, comprehensive, and user-friendly guidelines," he told Bernama.

Heads of government agencies at the embassy who were present welcomed the initiative as a standard reference to strengthen coordination and emergency response. - Bernama
