KUALA LUMPUR: Sabah will receive the highest development allocation among all states next year, as the Works Ministry again tops the list of federal ministries with the largest Development Expenditure, says Deputy Works Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Maslan.
Ahmad Maslan said Sabah is set to receive RM2.175bil, followed by Sarawak with RM1.915bil.
"Among the major projects funded under the RM9.607bil envelope are the Pan Borneo Sabah–Sarawak Highway (RM1.3bil), the Sabah–Sarawak Link Road (RM300mil for Phase 1 and RM300mil for Phase 2) and the Trans-Borneo Highway (RM200mil)," he told the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Nov 17).
Other allocations include RM782mil for the Central Spine Road linking Kelantan and Pahang, RM305mil for the Kota Baru–Kuala Krai alignment and several packages for additional PLUS highway lanes in Johor, including RM200mil for Package 1, RM150mil for Package 2, RM55mil for Package 3 and an initial RM800,000 allocation for Package 4.
"These are all aimed at improving connectivity, safety and mobility nationwide, with Sabah emerging as the biggest beneficiary next year," Ahmad said.
He said the ministry has secured RM9.6bil for 2026, the highest among 28 ministries, covering 357 project items, including 109 new projects, 228 ongoing projects and 20 maintenance-related items.
"Our allocation keeps increasing from year to year. In 2024, we received RM8.561bil; in 2025, RM9.327bil; and for 2026, RM9.607bil," he said.
Ahmad Maslan said the bulk of next year’s spending will go to roads and bridges, amounting to RM2.642bil, followed by slope works (RM168mil) and building-related works (RM167mil).
"In total, our maintenance allocation alone stands at RM2.978bil," he said.
