Drugs worth over RM62,000 seized in Johor raid, four detained


KULAI: Police have arrested a couple and two foreign men along with various drugs worth over RM62,000 in their possession.

Kulai OCPD Asst Comm Tan Seng Lee said the 40-year-old local man, his Indonesian girlfriend and two Bangladeshi men were arrested in a raid at Taman Sungai Mas here on Thursday (Dec 4).

He said the raid found three transparent plastic packets containing 254gm of ketamine, a plastic packet containing 1,015gm of ecstasy powder and 16 pieces of aluminium foil believed to contain 45gm of ecstasy pills.

"We also found a cigarette box with a folded piece of paper containing an estimated 7.6gm of cannabis.

"The two Bangladeshis, who are factory workers, tested positive for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), while the local man and his girlfriend tested negative for drugs," he said, adding that the local man has two prior criminal records.

ACP Tan added that the suspects have been placed under remand for seven days until Dec 11 for investigation under Section 39(B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

If convicted, the suspects may face the death penalty or life imprisonment, as well as no fewer than 12 strokes of the cane.
