SANDAKAN: Barisan Nasional hits the ground running in Karamunting with the announcement of Ah Chin as their man to serve the constituency.

Rallying behind its candidate, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong called Datuk Chin Kim Hiung the right person to represent the seat.

“Ah Chin is Barisan’s candidate, who is a true son of Sandakan. He has always looked out for the people of Karamunting.

“He is the best choice,” Dr Wee said after accompanying Chin to the nomination centre on Saturday (Nov 15).

Dr Wee said Chin, who is candidate No 3 for Karamunting, has long been part of the local fabric.

“For years, Ah Chin has walked the same streets, listened to the same concerns and shared the same aspirations as the people here,” he said.

He added that Chin’s strength “lies not in slogans, but in the trust he has earned”.

Dr Wee said Chin brings experience, sincerity and a grounded understanding of the constituency’s needs.

Chin, meanwhile, said the support from Barisan and Umno machinery gives him confidence heading into the campaign.

“I am confident that with Barisan-Umno’s help, we can secure victory in this state election,” he said.

He pledged to prioritise long-standing issues that have been a burden to the locals.

“I will work to resolve road, water supply and electricity problems. I hope voters will give their support to me,” he said.

Dr Wee also reminded party workers to adhere to the Election Commission rules and take care of their health throughout the campaign.

Also present during the nomination were party leaders, including MCA Youth chief Ling Tian Soon, national organising secretary Datuk Leaw Kok Chan, deputy treasurer-general Datuk Adrian Lee and other Sabah MCA leaders.
