PUTRAJAYA: More than 100,000 spectators attended the National Day parade here this year, says Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil.
He said the programme went according to schedule, and expressed his gratitude to all who attended from near and far.

"There were those from Sandakan in Sabah, others from Johor Baru, and even Jeli in Kelantan, who came together to celebrate this very meaningful day for our country.
"The weather has also been very pleasant. For this, I have to thank all related agencies who constantly monitored the situation," he told reporters after the celebrations here on Monday (Aug 31).
Fahmi added that many parade spectators also took the opportunity to spend time with their families here.

"I truly hope that the celebration this year deepens our love for the country," he said.
On the Malaysia Day celebrations in Kuching, Sarawak, Fahmi said the relevant authorities will hold a meeting soon to fine-tune the event.
"I believe that many Malaysians will take the opportunity to come and enjoy the various activities at the event," he added.
