MBPP urged to probe viral video of pit bull attacking stray dog in Tanjung Bungah

GEORGE TOWN: A stray dog was reportedly attacked by what is believed to be a pit bull, prompting questions about why its owner did not pull it away.

A video of the incident, said to have taken place at Pearl Hill, Tanjung Bungah, on Sunday (Aug 30) has since gone viral.

The stray dog, nicknamed Tim, was reportedly attacked for about a minute.

The video shows the owner holding the pit bull's leash as it repeatedly lunges at and bites the smaller white dog.

Tim can be seen struggling to get away, but the attack continues until a woman approaches with a long stick and drives the pit bull away.

In another video, the injured dog is seen limping, with its left front leg apparently dislocated.

However, it could not immediately be confirmed if the injury was sustained during the attack.

It is learnt that the dog was treated at a veterinary clinic and is in stable condition.

Members of the public reportedly lodged a complaint with the Penang Island City Council (MBPP), urging the authorities to investigate and take appropriate action.

The Star has reached out to MBPP mayor Datuk A. Rajendran for comment.
