KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court has granted leave to the family of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin to commence a judicial review against the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission's (MACC) order to freeze their bank accounts and assets.

Justice Aliza Sulaiman allowed the application on grounds that it had met the necessary threshold for leave to be granted.

She fixed Nov 19 for case management.

On Sept 25, 2024, Daim, his wife Toh Puan Na'imah Abdul Khalid, his four children and 17 companies filed the application to initiate judicial review against MACC's freezing order on their bank accounts.

On June 6, they filed a similar application to challenge the seizure of their movable assets.

They named two MACC officers, MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, the MACC, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the government, as the first to the sixth respondents.

In her supporting affidavit, Na'imah claimed that no charges pertaining to money laundering have been proffered thus far, the freezing and seizure order should have lapsed. However, until today, the applicants have no access to their accounts and properties.
