Bersatu to continue strengthening internal unity, says Azmin

PETALING JAYA: Bersatu will remain focused on strengthening its internal unity, says party secretary-general Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali.

"Bersatu views internal party matters seriously. The leadership is committed to continuing collective efforts to find solutions in the spirit of mutual respect, good understanding and firm adherence to the party constitution," he said in a press statement on Tuesday (Nov 4).

Azmin then added that five members were appointed to the party’s Appeals Board, chaired by Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun.

The others are Datuk Seri Zulkifli Noordin, Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof, Datuk Dr Abdul Latiff Ahmad and Datuk Fahimee Ismail.

He then said that it is agreed that Bersatu will field credible candidates with Perikatan Nasional (PN) allies in the coming Sabah state election in an effort to form the next state government.

"The supreme council unanimously agreed that Bersatu and Perikatan component parties will nominate capable candidates who can lead Perikatan to form the Sabah state government after the 17th Sabah state election," said Azmin.

On a separate matter, he said that the government should review the reciprocal trade agreement with the United States, adding that this should be done to safeguard the country’s future.

"This is important to safeguard national sovereignty and the country’s future economic independence," Azmin said this was discussed at the party’s supreme council meeting chaired by party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Nov 3.
