SEGAMAT: The successful implementation of the Asean Summit 2025 in the nation’s capital has given civil servants more confidence in the government, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

He admitted that there was some scepticism among civil servants towards the Madani Government when Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar first took over the administration three years ago.

“We cannot blame the civil servants‘ initial scepticism towards the current government’s lasting power because of what had happened from the year 2000 to 2022 - there were three different government administrations in the span of three years.

“With the recent Asean Summit where world leaders were present in Kuala Lumpur, we have proven that not only can we last, we can also govern and lead the country,” he said after officiating the Johor DAP convention here on Sunday (Nov 2).

He added that Anwar was not only an experienced government leader but also well-versed in international relations.

Meanwhile, Loke, the DAP secretary-general, said the strategy and candidates for the Sabah election would be left to the party leadership in the state.

“At the national level, we encourage party members in other parts of the country to provide support to our Sabah counterparts and election candidates,” he said.

Sabah would head to the polls on Nov 29, with nomination day set for Nov 15 and early voting on Nov 25.
