Medical reports not ready, so sexual assault case against teacher put off to Nov 24


SEREMBAN: The Sessions Court here has fixed Nov 24 for the next mention of a case involving a male teacher facing three charges of sexually assaulting two 15-year-old schoolgirls.

Judge Surita Budin set the date on Friday (Oct 31) after deputy public prosecutor Norazihah Asmuni told the court some of the medical reports related to the cases were not ready.

Muhamad Asyraf Ahmad, 36, a teacher at a Rembau school, allegedly committed the offence against the first victim in a classroom around 1.30pm one afternoon in April, and around 9.30am on May 16.

He also allegedly committed the offence against the second victim at 10.40am on May 5.

He was charged under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences against Children Act 2017, read together with Section 16(1).

Offenders can be jailed for up to 20 years and caned upon conviction.

Asyraf claimed trial when he was charged on Aug 28 and is out on RM20,000 bail.

On Sept 29, his defence team told the court that their client would also be filing a representation to have the charges reviewed.

The court was to have heard the outcome of the representation today.
