Businessman Azlan Al-Amin and brother charged with vandalism, assault


JERTIH: A businessman known as ‘Datuk’ and his younger brother have been charged in the Sessions Court here with vandalising a woman’s car, with the brother also facing separate charges of causing hurt to a man.

The duo pleaded not guilty before Judge Ahmad Fadhli Mahmud to both incidents, which went viral online, allegedly stemming from a dispute over land transactions.

Mohamad Azlan Abdullah @ Ali, 38, and Mohd Mustakim, 31, are accused of damaging a car belonging to a 36-year-old woman at her home in Kampung Pengkalan Buloh, Jalan Tok Raja, Jerteh, at 11pm on Oct 23, causing losses of RM5,000.

They were charged under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief resulting in loss or damage, read with Section 34, which carries a jail term of one to five years, a fine, or both if convicted.

The court granted bail of RM6,000 each with one surety and ordered that the accused not interfere with the victim or witnesses.

Separately, Mohd Mustakim and three others, Ramli Mohd, 56, Muhammad Shafiq Hakimi Hussain, 24, and Muhammad Haiqal Mirzan Mohd Mazli, 23, pleaded not guilty to causing hurt to Wan Hafizie Wan Mohamad, 36, at the same time and place.

The charges, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, carry a maximum jail term of one year, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both if convicted.

Bail of RM1,500 each with one surety was set with a non-interference condition. The case will be mentioned on Nov 24.

Meanwhile, Wan Hafizie also pleaded not guilty to two charges of criminal force against Mohamad Azlan and Mohd Mustakim under Section 352, punishable with up to three months’ jail or a fine of RM1,000.

Bail was fixed at RM500 with one surety, and the case is scheduled for Nov 17. – Bernama
