TWO female travellers were caught attempting to smuggle 68 live African mud turtles into China by concealing them under their dresses.

CCTV footage showed one of the women, dressed in a loose black outfit, entering Shenzhen’s Man Kam To control point through the “Nothing to Declare” lane, China Press reported.

Customs officers, noticing her awkward gait, stopped her for inspection only to find 39 live turtles packed in small black plastic bags hidden inside her leggings.

Just five minutes later, another woman using the same smuggling method was intercepted. She was found carrying 29 live turtles.

Authorities confirmed that the reptiles were African mud turtles, a species not native to China.

Customs officials reminded the public that smuggling live animals not only endangered the creatures but could also threaten local biodiversity and ecosystems.

Fortunately, all 68 turtles were recovered alive and in good condition.

Legal action will be taken against the two women under China’s Biosecurity Law and the Law on Entry and Exit Animal and Plant Quarantine.

> A prolonged kiss between a couple on the Hong Kong MTR has set off a wave of online debate over what constitutes acceptable public displays of affection, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Photos shared by a Threads user showed a man and woman engaged in a passionate kiss on a Kwun Tong Line train.

“For the entire ride, they were kissing non-stop,” the user wrote, adding that the man was seen touching the woman’s chest as they ignored fellow passengers.

The images quickly went viral, with many condemning the pair’s behaviour, calling it “disgusting” and “damaging the city’s image”.

However, others came to the couple’s defence, urging detractors to stop moral policing.

“Can’t you just mind your own business?” one commenter wrote.
