BALIK PULAU: A male facilitator was charged in the Magistrates’ Court here Friday (Oct 24) with three counts of committing physical sexual assault on a 12-year-old boy two weeks ago.

Mohamad Firdaus Abdul Shukor, 33, pleaded not guilty to all the charges when they were read out to him before Magistrate Chia Huey Ting.

The father of two was accused of committing the offences at a camp in Kampung Genting between 4.09am and 4.30am on Oct 12.

The charges were framed under Sections 14(a) and 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017, which provide imprisonment for up to 20 years and is liable to whipping, upon conviction.

The court later referred the case to the Sessions Court for the bail process and set Oct 28 for mention and appointment of counsel.
