Kiandee challenges GRS government on Sabah's revenue rights in Parliament

KOTA KINABALU: The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) state government must take a clear stance on Sabah’s constitutional rights to a 40% revenue share, says opposition Bersatu vice-president Datuk Ronald Kiandee.

Following the Prime Minister’s ministerial briefing in Parliament, he said that he was very concerned about whether the special 40% entitlement had been reviewed and finalised.

“Does this mean Sabah’s rights under Article 112D have been compromised? Did the Sabah state government also endorse this?

“Is the special grant of RM200mil to RM600mil from the Federal Government now a new amount agreed upon by the state government?” the Beluran MP asked in a statement on Wednesday (Oct 22).

Kiandee, who is also Sabah Bersatu chairman, said the Sabah state government must be transparent about its stand.

“It is also troubling that the Prime Minister stated the review took into account the Federal Government’s financial position and the need to support development in Sabah.

“When the Prime Minister himself described the High Court’s decision as ‘confusing'—this is extremely worrying,” he said.
