Selangor's Sultan Sharafuddin sends Deepavali greetings to all Hindus in country

PETALING JAYA: The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, are extending Deepavali greetings to all Hindus in the state and Malaysia.

In a message posted on Selangor Royal Office's Facebook page, His Highness expressed hope that this year's Festival of Lights would bring happiness, prosperity and peace to all, particularly the Hindu community celebrating the occasion.

"Deepavali, symbolising the triumph of light over darkness, reminds us all of the importance of awareness, kindness and love in society.

"I call upon this celebration to be filled with joy while maintaining the spirit of unity and harmony among different races and religions, which is fundamental to the peace of Selangor," said Sultan Sharafuddin.

As a developed and multicultural state, His Highness called on Selangor to set an example for other states by practising mutual respect, tolerance and unity to sustain the peace and prosperity enjoyed by all.

"May the symbolic light of Deepavali continue to illuminate the lives of all people with enduring hope, prosperity and greatness."
