Firefighters save unconscious toddler from hot car in Lahad Datu


The car window had to be broken to get an unconscious child out.

KOTA KINABALU: A four-year-old girl fainted after being left in a car in Lahad Datu district, on Wednesday afternoon (Oct 15).

Firemen who responded to a call from a concerned citizen, who noticed a child unconscious in a locked vehicle at around 3.56pm, said they had to break the car window to rescue the girl.

Lahad Datu Fire Station chief Sumsoa Rashid said the incident happened in front of a hardware shop along Jalan Kastam Lama.

“When the girl was carried out of the car, she was breathing but unconscious,” he said.

He said they took the girl to the hospital for further treatment and wrapped up their operations on site at around 4.25pm.

It was learnt that the girl was in stable condition. However, no details of the parents were given.

Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Dzulbaharin Ismail said no police report was received regarding the incident.
