PUCHONG: A timber factory in Taman Putra Perdana here was destroyed in a fire early Thursday (May 21) morning, Sinar Harian reports.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call about the incident at 2.05am Thursday.

“A total of 38 officers and personnel with fire engines from the Cyberjaya Fire and Rescue Station, assisted by the Dengkil, Puchong and Seri Kembangan fire stations, rushed to the scene, about 14km away,” he said in a statement Thursday.

Ahmad Mukhlis said firefighters arrived at the location about 11 minutes later and found that a Class C timber factory was 80% engulfed.

“Firefighters carried out firefighting operations using two hose lines of 61m with six nozzles, drawing water from fire hydrants and a water tanker,” he said.

He added that the fire was brought under control at 4am and fully extinguished at about 5am.

“No casualties were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation,” he said.
