PASIR PUTEH: Four traffic police motorcycles were destroyed in a fire that also affected part of a building at the Pasir Puteh district police headquarters early Thursday (May 21) morning, Sinar Harian reports.

The Malay language daily reported that in the 2.27am incident, a civilian motorcycle was also razed.

Pasir Puteh Fire and Rescue Station chief Asst Fire Supt Azhar Elmi Mustofar said the department received an emergency call before an FRT (Fire Rescue Tender) and an EMRS (Emergency Medical Rescue Services) vehicle, along with 10 personnel, were deployed to the scene.

He said firefighters arrived and found that the fire involved traffic police motorcycles and part of the building.

“The operations commander carried out a size-up and found that the fire involved four traffic police motorcycles, a civilian motorcycle and a building.

“The estimated damage to the motorcycles was 100%, while the building was about 10%,” he said in a statement Thursday.

He added that the blaze was brought under control at 2.43am and the firefighting operation fully concluded at 3.40am.

No injuries were reported, and the scene was handed over to police for further action, he said.

Azhar Elmi said the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
