KL roads to close in stages during Asean Summit, says KL traffic control

IPOH: Several roads in central Kuala Lumpur will close in stages for the 47th ASEAN Summit from October 26 to 28.

The Kuala Lumpur Command and Control Centre said the closures will occur periodically for 30 to 45 minutes to allow high level convoys to pass.

It said the Golden Triangle area would be most affected.

Affected roads include areas near Kuala Lumpur City Centre and the city centre, Jalan Ampang and Jalan Sultan Ismail.

They also include Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Pinang, Jalan Binjai, Persiaran KLCC and Jalan Tun Razak.

Other roads are Jalan Parlimen, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Jalan Imbi, Jalan Damansara, Jalan Istana, Jalan Kuching and Jalan Perak.

Key junctions include Jalan Ampang–Jalan P. Ramlee, Jalan Sultan Ismail–Jalan P. Ramlee and Jalan Perak–Jalan P. Ramlee.

They also include Jalan Perak–Jalan Pinang, Jalan Stonor–Jalan Kia Peng and Jalan Stonor–Persiaran KLCC.

“Routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Subang to the city will also be impacted to accommodate delegate convoys,” KLCCC said.

Some highways involved are MEX, the North South Expressway from Sungai Buloh to Jalan Duta, ELITE and NKVE from Subang to Jalan Duta.

They also include the Guthrie Corridor Expressway and the KL–Seremban Expressway from Sungai Besi to the city centre.

Police advised the public to avoid these routes and use public transport such as LRT, monorail and buses during the summit.

Heavy vehicles are not allowed to enter the city centre while the summit is held.

“We urge everyone to cooperate to ensure safety and smooth traffic during the event,” it added.

Information on road closures will be updated from time to time.
