Sabah DAP: We respect duo’s decision to quit party

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah DAP respects the decision of its leaders Tanjung Papat assemblyman Datuk Frankie Poon and former state DAP organising secretary Liau Fui Fui to leave the party.

Sabah DAP chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe thanked them for their years of service and contribution to the party and to the people of Sabah.

“We wish them all the best in their future endeavours,” he said in a statement Saturday (Oct 11), hours after the duo announced their decision to quit the party.

Phoong said for the party, the time has come for them to remain focused in serving the people in Sandakan and bringing more positive development to the community.

“I have spoken to Sabah DAP secretary cum Sandakan Member of Parliament Vivian Wong Shir Yee, earlier today. I have full trust in her leadership to consolidate and strengthen the party’s machinery in Sandakan, ensuring that we continue offering people-oriented ideas and services while continuing our services diligently on the ground,” he added.

“My team and I, together with the new Sabah DAP leadership, will continue to work with honesty, humility, and dedication to serve the people and to carry on our struggle for a better Sabah for all Sabahans.

“Together, we will unfold a new chapter, one that brings hope, resilience and unity for all Sabahans,” he added.

Phoong did not respond to Poon's claims that the current state leadership was undermining Tanjung Papat's leadership and disrespecting the party's senior leaders.
