A CENTENARIAN who celebrated her 103rd birthday credits her positive outlook on life as the secret to a long and healthy life, Kosmo! reported.

Ang Kim Choo, who was with the police force, also said the love she has for others and keeping an open mind helped her get to her age now.

“Those are the things that have helped me live a healthy life until today,” she said.

The grandmother of 12 recalled that her time as a Special Constable for nearly six years had taught her the true meaning of life.

“Until today, I remain friends with people of all races – Malays, Indians, and Chinese alike,” Ang said when met at her birthday celebration recently.

“Even though I can no longer hear clearly, I still remember my past experiences, including the days when I raised my five children.

“I’m grateful to be living a normal life; I can still walk with the help of a walking stick and see clearly,” she said.

Known fondly as Madam Ang, she continues to practise healthy eating habits, focusing on real, wholesome foods such as vegetables and meat – which she believes have been key to maintaining her wellbeing.

Meanwhile, her eldest child, Yeoh Saw Gaik, 83, said she felt fortunate to be able to celebrate her mother’s special day.

“Although her hearing isn’t as sharp as before, she’s still fairly active and she still loves spending time playing with her grandchildren,” Yeoh said.
