IPOH: A 63-year-old victim was killed while four others, including two children, were injured after the car they were travelling in skidded near the Titiwangsa Rest and Recreation (R&R) area in Gerik.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received a distress call about the incident at 5.14pm on Saturday (July 25).
He said the accident involved five individuals, aged 63, 42, and 38, alongside two children aged 12 and nine.
Sabarodzi said the operation commander conducted an initial assessment and applied the Systematic Approach to Victim Entrapment Rescue (SAVER) concept before directing personnel to provide initial treatment to the injured victims.
"The 38-year-old victim, who sustained a broken thigh, and the two children, who sustained minor injuries, were transported to Gerik Hospital for treatment," he said in a statement.
"The 63-year-old victim and the 42-year-old victim were found outside the vehicle," he added.
Sabarodzi said the 63-year-old was found unconscious, while the 42-year-old sustained minor injuries to a finger.
He said the unconscious 63-year-old victim was later pronounced dead by a Health Ministry medical officer at the scene before the body was handed over to the police for further action.
He added that the 42-year-old victim received initial treatment at the scene and was also handed over to the police.
