PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has expressed hope that the tabling of Budget 2026 today will reflect the government’s firm commitment to addressing issues of integrity and corruption as well as strengthening the role of enforcement agencies nationwide.
MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said it is crucial to ensure that all enforcement agencies can work together comprehensively to combat corruption and curb leakages of public funds.
“Earlier this year, I announced that MACC’s focus would be on reducing leakages and targeting syndicated cases involving significant financial losses to the nation,” he said when speaking at the Anti-Corruption Convention 2025 organised by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Organisation (Pakar) here yesterday, Bernama reported.
Azam said this year’s strategy also centres on efforts to recover stolen or misappropriated public funds, in line with MACC’s commitment to combat corruption systematically and effectively.
“We will continue our efforts to recover government funds that have been lost,” he said.
Also present was National Anti-Financial Crime Centre director-general and Pakar adviser Datuk Seri Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil.
Budget 2026 will be tabled in the Dewan Rakyat today by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
