SHAH ALAM: Investigation into the theft of RM10,000 from a wallet that was returned is still ongoing despite the suspect being granted bail, says police.
Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Shazeli Kahar said at a press conference at the contingent headquarters here on Wednesday (June 24) that the investigations are ongoing, and the case has been referred to the deputy public prosecutor’s office for further advice.
“The suspect has been granted bail for the time being. I cannot go into detail on the status of the RM10,000 as the matter is still being probed," he added.
Previously, Kajang OCPD Asst Comm Naazron Abdul Yusof said that on June 18, a suspect was arrested following a viral video from a Chinese national stating that she had lost her wallet containing RM10,000 in cash at a supermarket in Semenyih.
He said that the woman later met a man who claimed to have found and returned the empty wallet. However, the man denied taking the cash.
“Following investigations, the Criminal Investigation Division of the Kajang district police headquarters arrested a 37-year-old man at 1am on Thursday," said ACP Naazron.
